InterDev, an Atlanta-area provider of information technology and security services, today announced it has been selected as the managed information technology (IT) and geographic information system (GIS) provider for the newly incorporated City of Tucker, Georgia. Through the agreement, InterDev will provide the expertise and resources to architect, deploy, maintain, secure, and provide 24/7 support for the municipality’s IT systems. For the city’s GIS platform, InterDev will plan, build, and maintain a best-practices GIS environment, an interactive web site and a user-friendly web viewer, and provide secure, hosted access through its cloud-based GIS solution.
“InterDev’s expertise with local governments was key in our decision to partner with them for comprehensive guidance, implementation and support,” said City of Tucker City Manager, Tami Hanlin. “We were especially impressed with their successful efforts to build out IT infrastructure and services for new cities and to orchestrate municipal GIS startups.”
In addition to providing trained and certified support staff, InterDev will assign a dedicated IT manager to direct the efforts of the InterDev team. The agreement also includes best-in-class IT monitoring and problem resolution technologies as well as an audited support ticketing system to provide the most robust solution available. InterDev will provide specified auxiliary services, including management and monitoring of all technology contractors.
“In the current landscape, all municipalities—and especially new cities—must evaluate and choose their technology partners and solutions very carefully,” said Hanlin. “Because of InterDev’s experience working with municipalities on a broad range of concerns—from security to disaster recovery and high availability, we are confident in our selection.”
The agreement with City of Tucker will follow a public-private partnership (PPP) model similar to that of numerous other Atlanta municipalities that have contracted with InterDev. Through these partnerships, InterDev strives to become an integral part of the City’s team and its culture, actively working to protect and secure city facilities, enhance the quality of service for all departments, and optimize spending through careful project planning and execution.
“Since 2006, numerous new cities have incorporated in Metro Atlanta and InterDev has partnered with all of them in some capacity,” said InterDev Director of Government Services Ashley Smith. “Building a municipal operation is a unique and complex task, and we appreciate the confidence that City of Tucker has placed in us. We look forward to working with them, engineering and managing reliable, secure and resilient IT and GIS platforms to support a new and growing municipal operation.”
